December 2008,

CSFD Hockey finished its first session at Colorado

Sports Center. We had a rocky start, but finished

6-2 overall. We finished in the top of our division, and

are now the team to beat.

Your very own CSFD Hockey/Golf team did very well in the State Games. We managed to finish dead last, but we had a great time doing it.

We have been planning for three months to attend the Colorado Police and Fire Games. As the deadline got closer, we got more and more excited to participate. However, we were constantly asking if a schedule had been released, and none had. The only information we had was there were two days alloted for hockey (Monday 4pm-8pm, and Tuesday 6am-10am and 4pm-8pm). TWO DAYS before the tournament, we receive a call saying our first game is against DILLIGAF at 6am on Monday! This was a huge problem, since me and four others were on duty the day before and would not get off in time. Needless-to-say, we all scrambled, and got trades to attend. Sunday morning we receive another phone call now saying that all the hockey games were canceled! Apparently all but three teams had pulled out , and one of them didn’t have a goalie! Sooooo, four of us put together a golf team, and will compete as CSFD Hockey in the 4-person golf tournament.

I speak for a majority of the other players when I say how disappointed we are in the State Games planning/hockey committee. The has been a huge lack of planning and organization from day one! No ice was available, user un-friendly site, untimely scheduling, lack of communication with teams, and an overall lack of pride.

The State Games are a once a year event, and our opportunity to participate in this years is lost due to the un-coordination of the organizers.

We were ready to play!!!

Well the annual Gator tournament has come and gone. Congratulations to the CSFD Red team for taking home 2nd place, and Steve Garcia for winning the Defensive trophy. Trust me, you deserved it. It is safe to say that we all had a great time playing in this tournament, and give the man (Gator) a very big THANK YOU for all your hard work, and dedication. We look forward to next year......yes Gator, next year.

Some funds have been donated to the team for team helmet stickers with numbers (The stickers on the sides of the helmet with the logo, or whatever). The design has not been created at this point, and any ideas or drafts are welcome. Please submit an email if you have any really really ridiculously good looking designs.
